In 2001, St. Joseph’s Seminary, located off St. Augustine’s Square, received the UNESCO Asia Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation en route to becoming one of the designated sites of the Historic Centre of Macao in 2005, and subsequent inscription on the World Heritage list. The Seminary houses some 110 valuable items and religious relics such as ancient books, oil paintings, statues and ritual items. Residents and visitors can learn more about the history of the Seminary and of Catholicism in Macao by visiting the Museum.
